Team ScaleFab Tips: Bumper Install

There is no denying that Scalerfab bumpers are tough, but do you know what else is tough? Rocks! While hitting the trails we can sometimes find ourselves quite literally “hitting” the trails. After a few hours of bashing on the rocks you might notice your bumpers are no longer where you originally had them on the chassis. So here is a simple tip when installing your Scalerfab bumpers that will help to keep them firmly planted.
Instead of using the stock Axial screws, pick up a set of Axial part number AXA0109 (Hex Socket Oversize Head Screws 10-Piece 3x10mm) and a few 3m nylon locking nuts. The oversized head on these screws coupled with the locking nuts will provide ample clamping force and should keep your bumpers firmly in place. To install everything remove the stock outer plastic frame braces from the ends of the chassis while leaving the inner braces in place. Then with your body on, line up your Scalerfab bumper and check to make sure it’s where you would like it to be. Put the new Axial screws directly into the inner frame braces. Now use the holes from where the outer frame braces used to be to put the second set of screws; be sure to attach your nylon locking nuts to these bolts and make them nice and tight. Now you will have 4 longer bolts with much larger heads in place, along with the nylon locking nuts, should keep your bumpers in place for quite a while. So grab your gear and get to work driving those lines out there at your favorite trail!
