Happy Australia Day!

Happy Australia Day! And what a day it was. Myself and fellow scale fanatic Ben (@suchscale) had planned a scale adventure out on the cliffs of kurnell nsw. A rather fitting place to be scaling on Australia Day as it's the head land that the first fleet landed on when they discovered australia. After working all night I headed out to the cliffs but was met by heavy rain, so after a hour of waiting in the car for the clouds to dissipate it was time to scale! I had my k5 blazer and Ben had his d110. so we headed out, first crossing numerous sand dunes which gave us some grief once we had broken through the hardened wet surface we just sunk right in. After making through the dunes we where faced with a large open stretch of sand, which thanks to the rain had become quick sand basically, the rigs made it across driving in single file and by not losing wheel speed they didn't sink in, We however did one of my feet went in about 30cm deep. Once we made it across the sand flats the real fun could begin, endless trails through some of the most scale terrain in Sydney!. We first headed up the creek bed that was flowing pretty quickly to get to a infamous rock face that can be tricky to climb, and with sandy tyres it was! Once up the rock we headed round to the "canyon" which had a decent waterfall at the end. After a quick couple of happy snaps in the canyon we headed back down towards the ocean following a trail that goes through a rather tight cave section, the low overhead clearance and clay/mud proved to be a bit of a challange but we drove through making it out back on to the sand flats So it was time to call it a day after a good 4 hours out in the elements, both trucks drove out without any real damage so it was a good day all round.
