R/C Life: A Personal Journey

This post is going to be a little different then most post. This is small personal story of how I use this great hobby to over come some of my anxieties.
Let's start with way back in the day when I got my first rc. I don't fully remember my age when I got the truck, but I remember the truck being a king blackfoot with a blue and black bronco body with purple wheels. It was my birthday and I got a couple batteries for it and I drove that truck until it got so dark I couldn't see the truck anymore. Looking back is amazing the old nimh batteries didn't melt!
Fast forward many years to 2008 when I picked up a much needed upgrade to my rc. I bought a traxxas stampede, which led to a slash which led to more trucks. Fast forward a couple more years and I got into racing, the racing crowd let's just say, was not for me.
Now just a couple years ago, I got in touch with some people that were doing rock racing 3 1/2 hours North of me. After arranging some deals I decide to take the journey. Regardless of how I felt towards racing, it would be my first time meeting a group of crawlers. Normally I am not very talkative and social anxiety tends to keep me away from large groups of people, but meeting this group of people changed all that. They were some of the nicest people I've met in the hobby. It was like being a part of a family; they opened up to me, which made me more comfortable. That then led to me joining a few of them at a real competition. Doing that made me comfortable around even more people.
Now 3 years later, I have this amazing opportunity to represent one of the best trail armor companies in the business, and I'm hosting events. All thanks to the crawling community. I love this hobby and I couldn't be happier. I owe it all to the small club at F&F rc park
