The last weekend of September was beautiful in North Western Pennsylvania as the Keystone RC North
Club hosted the 4th Annual North Eastern Scale Top Truck Challenge. This year the event was spread
from a 1 day event, to an entire weekend. This allowed for a lot more drivers, and a lot more fun.

The event started off Friday with a night run thru the woods. The trails started off following glow sticks
hung over certain obstacles, but let into about a mile long trail run all together. Lots of laughter and fun
was had as people picked their way thru the woods with only tiny truck lights showing the way.
Saturday morning the event kicked off with the Show N Shine where builders got to showcase their talents before heading out to wreak havoc on their carefully constructed scale master pieces. They were judged by their peers for best builds, and most unique builds, not to mention scale points awarded based on SORRCA.com rules.

The creek was the right depth for running the Tank Trap event with enough water to swallow a scale truck easily. Waterproofing and a good winch really came in handy here.
The Mini Rubicon / Frame Twister brought some unique challenges with it’s off camber situations and
tight squeeze points. Drivers really had to pick their line carefully and finesse their way thru.
The Obstacle Course offered such a challenge to the class 2 drivers that only 2 competitors made it all the
way to the finish line, but that didn’t stop everyone from having a blast trying to finish.

The Hill Climb drew a good crowd of both competitors and spectators alike. This event was fast and
furious to the top of the hill with plenty of nail biting speed and dirt being flung on everyone at the bottom of the hill. Only a handful of drivers were successful in completing the run to the top.
Finally during the Sled Pull, metal and plastic were pitted against each other in the ultimate tug of war.
This year we had a great kids run by Ryan Morgan of TDM Service LLC. He is great with the kids and setup an event that allowed them all to drive some courses and do a sled pull. RC Addict supplied extra trucks to the kids who had showed up just to spectate and every kid present got to run and win a Tim Hortons gift card. The 1st thru 5th places all won a trophy. We won but getting to see so much excitement and smiling faces on the next generation of scale drivers.

The event wrapped up with a Ditch Dash For Cash where drivers sped thru a ditch to the top of of the hill. Speed and precision were you friend. If you flipped out or stopped moving, you were done.
The event ended with Mark VanOrd being the Top Truck for Class 2, and Ryan Morgan being top in C3.
All in all everyone had a great time. Many spectators enjoyed seeing this type of tiny truck excitement for the first time, and we were able to answer plenty of questions on how to get started in the fun world of Radio Control.
We want to thank Super Shafty and RC Addict for presenting the event this year.
And we want to thank all of the sponsors who contributed to the success of this event.
