Tamiya CC01 Mod

The Tamiya cc01, not the most capable rig but certainly one of the most scale. That being said I'm a sucker for scale so when I had the chance to pick up a old nib pajero I jumped at the chance! After a year of countless trails and hours of fun the Paji started showing signs of wear and tear, the gears started to slip whenever I tried to climb anything. After a quick look I discovered that the screws holding the gearbox cover on had overtime worn out the threads allowing the cover to lift and the gears to not mesh. As fellow cc01 owners know it's not your normal scale truck setup and fixing this involves some light modification. So with a fresh set of gears on it's way down from oz rc in Brisbane I picked up some m3 bolts and nuts from the local hardware store. With all that it was as simple as drilling all the way through the screw holes for the gearbox cover and running the bolts through. Once done I took her out for a test to see the results but it was still slipping. After some more trouble shooting it turns out that the "transfer gear" cover on the underside had also stripped out. Some quick grinding with the dremel made room under the motor for me to run bolts through to tighten that cover up too. So with that done she was finally ready to see the trails again. A highly recommended mod for fellow cc01 drivers
