Event Recap - Monkey Series Scale Comp

This past weekend was Round 3 of the 2016 Monkey Series Championship. The day started off chilly with temps in the upper 30's but turned into a beautiful day with temps right around 70 degrees and sunny. This event was held on private property near a club members home, it's an awesome site with hills, rocks and plenty of water as its a very large creek bed located in the hills of Ashland City, TN.

Members started arriving shortly before 8:00am and I started teaching rigs for both classes. There ended up being 11 entries for Class 2 and 7 entries for Class 1. After the drivers meeting it was time for Class 2 to hit the course. The course was comprised of roughly 100 gates going up slippery rocks and muddy hills. The course itself was quite technical and difficult, drivers had to be careful to choose the correct line through gates due to the water and slippery rocks. There was some excellent driving among club members and after the scores were tallied I came away with 2nd place, 3 points out of 1st. While not a win, the championship is the bigger picture and the finish puts me 1 point out of 1st place so I'll take it for now.

After lunch it was time for Class 1 to hit the course. This turned into a nightmare for me. Not sure what happened but I wasn't on my game on this day and hit more gates on this course than I hit in my first two events combined. I ended up in 5th place which is not what I had hoped for but I still retained my lead in the championship. Maybe next I'll remember how to drive a tiny truck.
