"When in doubt, winch it out!"

Sometimes during an event you may have mechanical issues, such as a stripped ring and pinion in an axle. Or you may be stuck trying to navigate an obstacle. There's always a way around that. Of course you can use a winch and a ScalerFab land anchor or sand ladders, but you can also use anything on your rig. I've used spare tires and even the old school tire winch. Simply make a slip knot and cinch it around one of your tires and attach a ScalerFab land anchor. Then use the power of your rig to wind up the rope around the tire, pulling yourself up the obstacle. It's not the easiest way to go, but it'll get you out of a pinch when necessary.
