The weather for Howling at the Moon at RRW couldn't have been better. The skies were clear and the temperature was moderate.
The drivers meet for the endurance class started at 8:45 and the four drivers start at 9 and ran until 3.
There were 3 section by the hobby shop to complete comprised of 90 gates and a section out back that consisted of 150 gates to make up one lap.
The first 2 section were set up on the original course with a few challenging sections. Section 3 was on what was once the short course. It was a very challenging section. If you didn't pick the right line your chances of rolling off the rock ridges was increased.
The back section was pretty easy with only a few area that required the drivers to pay close attention to their line.
I had the pleasure of running along side Shawn Barton of Phoenix Design LEDs for most of the day. We would help each other get rolled back over or pull up a hill.
At the end of our time, I really thought that Shawn had me beat, but due to a technicality I was announced as the winner.
I had a great time as usual and got to meet fellow team drivers Steve Crotts again and Doug Maytum for the first time. In the morning Doug was busy selling a few items so I did a little wrenching on his Bomber for him to help reduce the torque twist. I look forward to wheeling with both of them again along with other team drivers that I have yet to meet.
I did equip my bomber with a set of sliders and a front bumper from ScalerFab that worked great.
