RRW 3 Man Comp Recap

With the 3 man comp coming on the Memorial Day weekend, we must first remember the fallen, true heroes who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Sunday comes and I rejoin my G6 winning team with Matt Peterson and Steve Mosley for the 3 man comp, 20 teams showed up a total of 60 drivers an excellent turn out. A brutal course was laid out before us with 201 gates on a 1:1 course where the big jeeps run, that coupled with a very hot day and hills laced with Florida sugar sand would test both man and machine. Teams headed out every 3 minutes, we were team #6. We got the the 30 second warning and we're off navigating the gates with relative ease the ScalerFab Bomber was performing well, the rock sliders were amazing didn't get hung up on any rocks! As we were proceeding Matt's truck breaks a chub, repairs must be done right there or in the pits, if you can't fix it and can't be towed to the finish then the whole team gets a DNF, the rules of a 3 man event is all trucks must stay together and finish together which means if you break your teammates must be able to drag you to the finish. So we're back on our feet catching back up to the pack and then we encounter the hill! 10 feet of sugar sand that destroyed trucks and broke drivers wills, sure you could winch up the hill but that's a penalty, sure you could just skip the gates but those are penalties so you just suck it up and figure out a way "teamwork". We finished the course in a little over 2 hours sweating, exhausted, mentally wore out, trucks were dirty, banged up, a lot of drivers carrying their trucks that were beyond repair. At the end of the day it's not about winning or losing, it's about hanging with your friends acting like a kid and having fun, until next time....
