Team KNK TTC Weekend Extravaganza

Team ScalerFab made quite the showing at this past weekend's Team KNK TTC. ScalerFab, a Gold Sponsor, sent tons of goodies and had a great representation during the 3-day event festivities. Friends and Drivers from all over the East Coast weathered the rain for one of the biggest comps of the year. Below, each Driver has written their own take on the event. We hope you enjoy!
Mike Rowe:

As I just got home from the Team KNK TTC and finally got a shower, I'm already thinking about all the moments I enjoyed over the last three days. It's always a blast getting together with old friends, current ones and meeting new people. Seeing all the different ideas in builds, watching the infinite driving styles while judging competitors and the occasional shenanigans that go with any rc event. Everyone has heard, seen or experienced the weather we had and yet everyone who stuck it out left smiling. Maybe some mud on those smiles, but smiles nonetheless. As much as it wears judges out, it's one of the things I enjoy about these events. You get more time with new people and watch a TON of tiny truck driving. I'd like to thank the Kirby family, the course builders, sponsors, THE best bbq food truck anywhere, the tech judges, fellow judges, the competitors/builders, the vendors on site. I'd also like to thank my personal sponsors. #TeamSupershafty #TeamScalerfab #TeamBullRope #TeamJTHobbies. Without them I wouldn't have finished each event.

What an outstanding weekend.
We headed to Ohio for the 3rd Annual KNK TTC Thursday morning. Along the way we made a stop in Canton, NC to pick up James Story Rice.
Upon arrival to the Team KNK RC farm I was amazed at the course they have built. We registered and spent the rest of the day walking around greeting old friends and making new ones.
Fridays events for the 2.5 class only consisted of the hill climb. When it was my turn to make an attempt I started slow and picked my line carefully. The Scalerfab equipped G6 had no problems make the climb to the top. The Pitbull Rock Beast tires had more than enough grip. At about the halfway point I was hanging a front tire in the air and allowed the other three to do the work.
The rest of the time on Friday was spent trying to dodge the rain or not slip and fall in the mud.
Saturday morning was time to for the sled pull. The track was dry and hard packed. I let up and the throttle when I got close to the boundary instead of just turning away from it. That mistake caused me to slow enough that I fell short of a full pull by only a few feet.
Saturday also was our day to run the TTC course. I faired even worse than I did on the sled pull. I started out on course strong. Around the halfway point I started having steering issues, and a few gates later my servo let out the magic smoke.
Time for a repair. I replaced the servo with the first one I could find and get back on course. The next few gates went easy and then the replacement servo let go.
As I was looking to get another servo it was time for the skies to let loose once again. I took shelter in the closes tent I could find. I found myself in the Exclusive-RC tent, surrounded by some of the coolest scale build I have ever seen.
Sunday consisted of the mud pit and then awards.
I decided to go at the mud a little later and try to see what line was working best. This choice turned out to be a bad decision. As the time went by the mud at the end of the pit just got deeper and deeper. When I came time for my run I rolled into it to get as much speed as possible. The thick mud near the end quickly slowed my way down and started to pull me under. I continued to try getting to the end until the mud had the G6 completely covered.
The drawing for the last of the door prizes was moved into the barn so we were out of the rain. A big round of applause needs to go out to each and every sponsor. The amount of prizes that were given away over the weekend took up 3 tables and the Kirby family had it stacked a couple feet high.
The only bad part of the entire weekend was the end, only because everyone knew we had to leave.

I had opportunity last weekend to go to the 3rd annual team Knk ttc ... I have to say this year was one of the most fun events I've attended, even with all the rain! I competed in class 1 and class 2.5 with my new truck by the graveyard . I have to thank Joe Keske for giving me the opportunity to drive this rig . I also have to think ScalerFab for getting my new bumpers over in a heartbeat to be compatible with the rules in class one . I went into this weekend hoping that it would finish in the top 50% of each class that I entered. I was so happy that I was able to achieve the goals ending up 17th out of 59 drivers in class 1 and 32nd out of 128 drivers in class 2.5 .. I know my first class o1 run could have been better, but my winch line got tangled around the axle causing it to snap. After repairing this, I wenton to complete the run. I was so please that I only hit 4 gates on the course. This was by far the hardest course I have done, but it was definitely a blast. As far as class 2.5 all I did was a simple tire swap and I was very pleased with my run on the course, only hitting two gates. I was so happy with my runs this past weekend all I can do is look forward to the next event!

June 3, 2016 we headed out to Ohio for team KNKTTC event it was an amazing experience as I entered three classes I ran my 1.9 demon jeep in 2.5 class and class III the jeep felt great till it popped a front shaft left me hangin on the last portion of the course. So I wasn't able to complete class 3 . I was on deck for the U4 race event so the jeep was out for the day . So as we lined up on the track I was surprised to see u4rc OG Chris Zemek aka Big Tex on the stand so I knew I had to be on my game . As the horn sounded I played it smart and let the pack race into the turn as they rubbed and crashed. Chris and I got the hole shot as I took the inside line and cleared the big step up to get a clean start and never looked back managed to run a solid race and managed to run a full lap on the field for a 1st place qualifier. Great race and better feeling when big Tex said my truck looked fast and he couldn't catch me. So mains are locked in for Sunday. As I got back to the pits we were able to fix the jeep and hit the trail for class 2.5 then the downpour started finishing the day. We headed back to hotel for some needed rest then we went out for my birthday dinner and to my surprise Mr Dan Wilson,Brian Parker,Desmond mooney, and Big Tex walked in and made it the best birthday ever with tons of laughs and Vlogs. Day 2 1.9 class 2.5 ran good with 2 gates and a bunch of hand winches due to a burnt control so needless to say the KNK trail was no joke ! So with that course being completed I figured run it hard in the mud and sled events. So we hit the sled for a amazing 2 speed shifting pull to the end . And last event was the mud pit and the 3300 kv was screaming for a respectable run . Unfortunately the track was flooded so we didn't get to run the U4 mains so win by default I guess .Overall a unforgettable weekend with the Scalerfab crew thanks for the continued support J Berry

Let's begin our journey on the Monday before the knk top truck challenge. I woke up that day with the thought, "I need to finish putting my class 1 together and my girlfriends class 2". With procrastination being king I wouldn't finish both trucks until Wednesday. Thursday I cram electronics in both trucks, put tires on both trucks and crammed weeks of testing and tuning in just a couple hours. I then loaded everything and we left for Lebanon ohio, home of the knk farm.
Friday comes and I compete in class 1 and class 3 trail course. My class 1 run I didn't do so hot, a rushed build never ends well.
My class 3 run went surprisingly well considering it was my first time running class 3 in a big comp. The only mishap was a servo that crapped out. With hours of testing my class 3 was the truck I was most comfortable with. My class 2.5 hill climb went well, making it to the top. Saturday came and talk of heavy rain was all the rage that day. I made sure to run my class 2.5 trail course early on before the rain hit. Shortly after I ran the monsoon came. After the rain came it shut the rest of the events down until sunday.
Sunday came and we ran the mud pit for all the classes. Later that day after everyone ran, we had the award ceremony. After a long, eventful, couple days, the results are in and they are.
37th in class 1 out of 56 trucks 27th in class 2.5 out of 128 trucks 6th in class 3 out of 63 trucks
My girlfriend took 10th in class 2 and it was her first comp ever.
Since knk gives a plaque to the top ten we both walked away with some hardware. It was amazing weekend and an event you don't want to miss.
