Eastern PA RC Crawlers Northeastern National Championship

Recap and Highlights from the Eastern PA RC Crawlers Northeastern National Championship July 22-24 organized by John Slichter. A last second change of events landed me at my first scale/crawling competition. Since this was a National Championship the stakes were higher, the rules were stricter, and competition was much tougher. This was an event for me to use as a personal stepping stone to get some face time with some local companies and many of my FB friends. The biggest hurdle I faced going to this event was not having a rig ready and set up for this style of driving. My rigs have all been purpose built for trail driving and are more of a shelf queens the type of rigs that I would use for photo shoots for social media posts. The rig I decided to take with me and try to use was my purpose built snowplow truck. This thing is weighted and geared for a single purpose with snow chains and super stiff suspension, like I said completely the wrong truck. Still it was the best choice scale truck I had to get ready in a few days. A last minute shipment from ScalerFab to save the day, got me motivated to get this build read. I Swapped out the snow chains and slapped on a sick new set of 1.9 Growlers from Pit bull tires. Removed the snow plow and the stock step rails to make room for the new accessories. The day of the event I was still bolting on the new trail armor. I'm so glad I took the time to do this, because it helped with the over all look and the performance. It is a night and day difference making the transition from stock plastics to a high quality hardened steel accessories. You see and feel the difference over the terrain it will push up and tight then force itself into spot it likes find the line and then slide over the obstacle, it's hard to explain but I can highly recommend that everyone should be using trail armor, to take advantage of the increased performance and handling.
